Beautifully tragic

After reading about the new picture book on Alexander McQueen that a fellow blogger Tanya got I just had to get one for myself.  It arrived yesterday and I got cozy on the sofa and began looking at some of his collections.  His work left me speechless.  He mastered dark beauty, the clothes are feminine but have a strength to them. He said he wanted people to feel something extreme when they looked at his creations and I think he achieved that and so much more.  It's so sad he is gone and that he took his own life only a week after his mother died. Here is a glimpse of his work;

Sarah Jessica Parker also loved his work!

Lady Gaga wore him well.

His accessories are equally impressive!

I hope you are at peace my dear, your legend lives on!

Such amazing design. He was incredibly talented, wasn't he? I was wondering how to describe those silver shoes, and then read Jenifer's comment - of course! Alien!
You are right, dark beauty is exactly the phrase. xxxx

He had tremendous talent,that man!!! I loved his work,and wouldn't mind getting that book myself! Such a shame to see that talent gone,but so often such genius is combined with fragility.Gaga is a great platform for his amazing designs!Crazy stuff,some of it,but always impeccable in cut and construction.
He was also badly distressed by his friend Isabella Blow's suicide,poor bugger.

Have you checked your emails recently,sweets?!
Love and McQueen shoes!

He was an amazing talent, Gaga was made to wear his clothes. The shoes that look like a snakeskin bull terrier do freak me out a bit though!

I agree, his work is just breathtaking. My two favourite designers are McQueen and Westwood as I think they have a lot in common, both push the boundaries and design something truly different, beautiful and edgy. It's such a shame that he died at such a young age, as just like Vivienne Westwood I think he would have gone from strength to strength. xx

Amazingly striking pixxx--all of them. I saw a few of those pieces at the McQueen Savage Love exhibit at the Met and was absolutely dumbstruck.
