From your Valentine

Just like most things diluted and commercialized meanings of holidays seem lost these days.  Take Valentine's day for example. Where the heck did this holiday come from?  My favorite mysterious origin is the one about Valentine the priest who served during Rome.  It was said Emperor Claudius felt single men made better soldiers so he outlawed marriage.  Valentine thought this was a bunch of bs and continued to marry young lovers in secret.  How romantic!!!!  Anyway once discovered he was jailed and put to death but was visited often by the jailers daughter:)  It is said that before he died he sent her a letter professing his love and signed it," FROM YOUR VALENTINE."  Gush!
Loving this sweet version of Marie Antoinette made by Wicked Paper Dolls!
Also made by Wicked Paper Dolls.
If these were in my size.
Adorable heart ring made by Studio Leanne, she's form Australia!
This locket must have something very special inside. Made by PoleStar.

This ring is so sweet by Nafsika!
I'm loving these creations by Scarlett Charlett.

For the record I try and let people I love know it all year long but dammit LOVE deserves its own holiday, don't ya think?

Love the Marie Antoinette and the locket.
I have to confess - and this will be no surprise probably - but I don't like or do Valentine's Day. I know, I'm such a old curmudgeon! Expressing your love - yep, all for that.
Ridiculous, expensive, commercialised gifts and pressure to be "romantic" to order? Not for me!
But that was an interesting story about the origins, hadn't heard that before. And I wouldn't begrudge anyone else enjoying the holiday if they want to! xxxxxxx

I totally agree- Valentine's should be a day to celebrate love and caring, and going against the rules if they promote hatred not love even!

I so want those gloves. They say 'cold hands warm heart', if that's the case I must be the modern Cassanova because my hands are always icy cold!

I really love that version of the 'origin' of Valentines day! Such a sweet but sad story :(

The framed picture by Wicked Paper Dolls is awesome!

I love Valentines day, it means I get a new card with a new verse in it from Pyf, I've kept every single card from him and plan to do so forever! It'll be nice to look back on when I'm a decrepit old lady. xxx

That's such a sweet story & I think I'd die of happiness if I got that Marie Antoinette necklace any day of the week, Valentine's or not.
We don't make a big deal of it, we always make each cards and give each other something daft but all that commercialised romantic dinner and imported bouquets seem a bit naff.
Love you!!! xxx

Oh, and I came across this on my eBay trawl - I can see you and your man wearing it - kind of cute, despite the dodgy sounding name!

hahah what a cool story! I actually don't really know about the origins of Valentine's day but I agree that it's yet another overcommericalized holiday. Love these cute Valentine's day finds.
