Black and White done right!

I feel like I am just now catching my breath after my trip to California and more recent the excursion to Crater Lake.  I am really looking forward to a weekend at home with Chris and the animals.  I have a few crafty projects planned and can't wait to see what looks good at Farmers Market on Saturday.  Did I mention my neighbor chopped off his big toe mowing his lawn?  Tragic really, poor guy, I was in San Diego when it happened but Chris was home and first on the scene.  He screamed bloody murder as anyone would have.  Mental note to self *mowing the lawn can be very dangerous, and I am a klutz*
In other news when I was in San Diego my friend Gwen and her daughter gave me this totally rocking Betsey Johnson backpack.  Yes, it's covered in skulls:)
Not only do I love it but every time I use it I will think of her and that alone puts a smile on my face.

I always feel so boring wearing black and white but the polka dots make me like this dress and at $3 I like it even more.  Gratuitous Peetee shot.
Another pair of vintage pink pearls I picked up in San Diego for $3.
I have been growing my hair out for a while now, but I think I need a trim.  Look at all that hair!
I picked up these Chucks a few years ago for $19, see how clean I keep em:)  I have also scored some really cute vintage dresses at the Goodwill and I can't wait to show you those.

What a change to see you in monochrome. It looks totally rocking but I understand how you feel, I always feel a bit like a wallflower if I'm not in something bright!
That backpack is perfection and so you and your hair is always fabulous.
Ouch, your poor neighbour (and brave Chris). My brother fell into a lawnmower when he was 2 and I'll never forget the hideous aftermath.
Give Peetee a big kiss from his Aunty Vix!
Love you! xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Welcome home!I love polkadots too and you are so gorgeous in your new dress!!Thank you for the many Peetee's photos, he always brings me a huge smile! The new backpack is wonderful, I love everything with skulls on and its color is awesome, my six years old daughter is a big fan of your hair, she've just passed by and screamed how beautiful you are, I don't know how to convince her that she's too young for bleaching!

I'm so sorry for your neighbour, I hope that Chris was not too shocked by the bloody rescue!

Lots of love!

The skull backpack is perfect, and so you! She certainly chose well. I think the brightness of your hair offsets the monochrome of your outfit. You look fab xxx

Oh no, is that the same neighbor who leaves his tea out too long?

I love this black and white on you and of course it's no where near being boring because you've added just the right amount of punch! That backpack is so you! No wonder it was a gift.

Can't wait to see your new dresses!

Ouch about your neighbour!! Makes me glad we don't have a lawn. I know how you feel about black n white, but it could never look boring on you with that amazing hair and stunning tattoos. Looking fwd to seeing your new frocks:)

Oh that is a grim story about your neighbour. Hope Chris isn't too squeamish...
Black and white couldn't be boring on you, Krista, your beautiful pink/auburn hair makes every outfit colourful without you having to try! But the little accents of pink you added in are lovely, and the backpack from your friend is perfect for you.
Peetee is rhe best accessory, of course!
Looking forward to seeing the frocks you found! xxxxxx

OMG! Your poor neighbour! Did they manage to recover his toe or was it too badly mangled.. yuck!!! I hope he is doing well.. I bet it is very very strange getting accustomed to walking without a big toe on one foot!

I am a fan of black and white polka-dot so I am loving that dress a lot! But.. that bag.. THAT BAG!!! What a little beauty! I was heart broken when I found out Betsey Johnson had gone bust.. I will never own a Betseyville bag now! I will just have to admire your collection!

I say, just a little trim.. long red and pink hair rules! xxx

I love the black and white combo - makes your beautiful hair and body art really shine. Peetee is just the cutest accessory. The toe accident sounds very gruesome.

Fun backpack! I notice it is pink. :) I love black and white, but I totally know what you mean about feeling monochrome in it. However, it's hard to go wrong with polka dots!!! Peetee is so cute!!

A perfect way for you to wear black and white! I love me some polkadots too and the way you wear it, with pink details, is just adorable and totally something I would wear too! Also: that story about your neighbours toe getting cut off is horrifying. I'm already kind of iffy when it comes to lawnmowers (thank you Mad Men, horrorstories like this and natural clumsyness)but after hearing yet another story like this I might not be able to ever mow my lawn again! :-D

Black and white is a good foil to your beautiful bright hair.... you can definitely wear the look!

Ouch! Poor dude who chopped off his toe... was he mowing barefoot or in sandals? Think I'll be wearing hubby's steel-capped site boots next time I venture out with our lawn mower!

Hi Krista, I think you look lovely in monochrome, it's far from boring on you, your pink hair goes so well with it and I love polka dots. Peetee makes an extremely cute accessory too, he's gorgeous.

Poor man chopping off his toe! I've always had a fear of lawn mowers and this story just confirms it, hope they were able to graft it back on for him. xx

Hi, Krista, I've been reading your blog for a while and have been bad about commenting. You have plenty of 'color' even in black and white, and I've been admiring your jewelry-making abilities.
That little Peetee's a real cutie pie and I love the cat butt photo bomb in the 2nd photo.

I spy pink three-strand granny beads - my favourite type of necklace - so jelly and you look amazing with your spotty frock:)). Oh that poor, poor man - mowing in bare feet by any chance? Oh dear. Having a big catch up here lovely, feel like there's a big empty space in my life and it's Krista!! xoxoxox
