Planting flowers and playing nurse

This last weekend was as beautiful as it was scary.  I know,  what now right?  Saturday was gorgeous I worked tirelessly in my garden soaking up all that much missed sunshine.  I bought lots of flowers and love seeing the return of color in my yard.  This was part of my haul:)
I go to a small local nursery called Bob's and have been for the last 6 years.  They all know Peetee there and give me a hard time when I don't bring him.
I love these hanging baskets but I kill them pretty quick.
How beautiful is this flower?  I haven't taken any photos of the yard (which looks gorgeous) yet because Saturday turned into a disaster.
My crazy cat Ash didn't come home until 3AM, Chris found her curled up on our deck.  The next morning when I got up she was hiding downstairs and would not eat or drink anything and was growling.  I knew something was wrong.  I took her to the vet, she had a fever of 105.8.  $1200 later and 1 night in the hospital she is still pretty sick.  Xrays and blood work show nothing.  I had her tested for FIV and leukemia, both negative.  The vet said she is fighting off a bad infection from either an animal bite (which we could not find) or ate a bird that had salmonella because they have had some cases of that recently.  I picked her up this morning and I am nursing her back to health.  She is on heavy pain pills and 2 different antibiotics.
I had to feed her with a syringe last night and force water down all day.  She finally ate a little on her own this morning.  Do any of you cat ladies have any advice for me?  I swear I don't ever want to let her leave the house again, but that really isn't an option since she knows the outside now.  The last three days have been pretty tough, but I feel tougher for it!

Let's end things happy shall we?  Here is a picture of my Mom who recently had a pastel selected for an art show.
Nice job Mom!!!! She get her cast off in less than a week.  She has been recovering from surgery for almost 2 months.
Last Friday was spent with my partner in all things fun Cristi of KMK!  She made this dress out of a sheet, isn't it beautiful!
When this dress comes out of my closet SUMMER IS DECLARED!
I hope you are all enjoying a little bit of something that makes you happy.

I'm so sorry that you had a great then scary weekend. One of the things we used to do on the farm was give the animals PediaLyte whenever they were sick. it gave them a good balance of electrolytes and the hydration they need it. it helped get Xena (our dalmation/rottweiler mix) out of parvo. I'll be sending good cat lady vibes your and Ash's way.

Oh poor Ash! I hope the antibiotics will work soon and that she'll be able to eat and recover faster, do you give her some vitamins? I don't know if Vets usually prescribe them, but I often give them to the girls when they are sick! I hate to know that a poor creature is suffering!
Well, for the rest I really loved your mother's work, the colours she used are beautiful! Now I know from where your talent in choosing vibrant colors come from! A big hug to Cristi too, she look amazing in her dress and I'm glad that you officially declared that summer is here, I really hope so...here the Sky is still gray!!
I love you more than flowers!!

Poor little Ash, I go to bits when my cats are ill, it's so scary. Keep doing what you're doing and call the vets if you need advice, they won't mind.
On a brighter note both you and Kristi look fabulous - I adore your pink and orange beauty and Kristi sheet maxi -incredible.
That garden centre looks gorgeous, I really ought to get some plants from the car boot tomorrow (if it's not raini9ng!)
Love you and yes, speak this week! xxxxxx

Poor Ash! Cats eat some disgusting things, but also abscesses, which are the most gross thing ever, take a while to surface. I'm sure she'll be ok again soon, she looks really pissed on in that photo! Cats make terrible patients though!
You and Cristi both look beautiful! Both your dresses and just gorgeous, a cool morning for Cristi and a hot sunset for you. The plants look great, I'm pretty good at killing them! Looks like a great nursery! xxxx

Poor little Ash and poor you, it's a horrible feeling when your babes are poorly, you just worry so much. Hope she feels better soon. Can't believe it has cost you $1200 that is quite shocking.

Your flowers look so wonderful, can't wait for the show and tell. Your mother's picture is so beautiful, I love it and you and your pal look like summer. xxxx

Poor Ash, cats do like to put us through it don't they? Hopefully the fierce tablets are doing the trick.

Huzzah for pretty colourful gardens.

Oh no, crazy Ash is poorly, that's a worry. I have no advice other than to keep helping her eat and drink, it sounds as though she is recovering a little if she has eaten something. I'm sure the medd will kick in and bring her fever down quickly. Oh don't we love our pets and HATE it when they are ill?
On a more positive note, you look gorgeous in your Summer is Here dress, and Cristi's sheet frock is a beauty - she is one talented seamstress!
And well done to your mum - another talented and creative lady!
Looking forward to seeing some pics of your garden with all the added colour. Keep us posted about Ash, give her a get well stroke from me. xxxxx

Oh I am so sorry to read that your fur baby is not well. It is very scary when beloved pets are not well and neither you nor the vets can work out what is wrong - I have had a similar experience but not quite as serious. I think its really promising that she is drinking and starting to eat a little. The antibiotics should be kicking in now and the pain killers helping too. I would hope that there is an improvement by the time your read this comment. Sending lots of hugs your way, xx

oh krista, i hope your cat gets better. i hope your bank balance recovers too. we spend more on vet bills for our dogs than we do on ourselves at the doctors.

Medically for kitty A/D is a food you can get from the vet. It's made for animals who have lost a lot of fluids and weight from sickness.
Cats don;t need to go outside, so if being inside is what's best for her you have to just make her change. My guys are inside cats and go for little lead walks everyday ans they are really happy. I hope kitty is feeling better.

Aargh Krista, I have fallen sooo far behind with my blog reading and missed so much. So many frocks of beauty here, and leggings too. Looking back through your posts, I love your green maxi and your sweet cowgirl style dress, and the view of your hair from underneath, it's as gorgeous as the top! Love Cristi's peacock leggings and your dragon ones too, and your sale dress that you feel a bit guilty about, makes me feel a bit less guilty about treating myself to those IC shoes. Love all those gorgeous plants but I am the kiss of death to plants, so I leave it to Pat as he has the knack with them. I've missed your smiling face and sunny attitude, I mustn't stay away so long again. xx

oops forgot to add, good luck to your assistant with her little baby on the way and I hope Ash is okay now. Sasha has done all those things you mentioned and is still here to tell the tale, so get well soon Ash! xx

I love going to nurseries. Your friend's sheet dress is beautiful--far superior to the one I hand stitched as a teenager out of a Peanuts sheet!

Awww poor Ash, good i'm late and already read she's better now! I'm not a cat lady and have only advices about dogs. But if pets are ill its always scary!!!
Your mom looks great and seems she's very talented - just like you!
The dress of your friend looks amazing! Love the pastels!
