Work without LOVE is slavery

I woke up to rain slicked streets and gray skies, just another typical spring day in good ole Portland.  I have been trying to stay focused at work even though my industry and the company I work for have left me feeling pretty empty after 15 years.  I keep telling myself to just be happy that I have a job!  I get to work from home!  I have no dress code! But the truth is I crave something more.  Pardon me while I think out loud.
Inspired by Vix's famous denim vest ~here is mine!  It always gives dresses with an odd shape a better one.  Thanks for the tip my dear!  I found this crazy ass cat ring at Crafty Wonderland.  It's made by the lovely Maria of  The Locketship.
Wait until I show you the necklace, it deserves its own post!
My latest pair of KMK leggings.
My garden is coming along nicely!
I even extended this walking path.
I picked up this dress a few weeks back for a ten spot.  I love the colors!
My sweet neighbor gave me this.
I wanted to let you all know Ash is better and just went back outside yesterday.   Woo Hoo!!!
She better not cost me any more this year I have dresses to buy :)
I also bought these prints from Brenda Dunn a local Portland artist.  This is for the powder room.
 This hangs in the bedroom:)
I hope your week is humming along and thanks for making me forget how much I hated work at the start of this post.

I regularly give myself the same pep talk...I have a job, I get to work from home etc but same days it is soooo hard to get motivated!
Loving the new acquisitions... the cute ring, the fab leggings and the gorgeous prints!
Great news about Ash and your garden is coming along very nicely:-)

I am familiar with that pep talk! I think it is well-used, especially in this climate.

Oh, this rain. Enough already! Although I have to say it is making your garden look lush and green and giving all those new plants a good start in life. There's something a bit fairytale about that path and of course all those colourful plants. Cosmos are the best aren't they, must get some.

I love the fact that you are dressed in a garden-appropriate way, there's something nymph-like about you today. Hurrah for Ash!! xxxx

I love your dress, it's full of flowers and Krista colours. Also I think those are my favourite KMK leggings!! OH and that ring!! Wow, looking forward to the necklace now! Your garden is looking great, very pretty.
Sounds like Portland and the UK are weather twins!
Don't give up on finding something else, I'm sure some more fulfilling work is out there for you, or even a course? Who knows! xxxxxxxxxxx

I guess most people do what they do to pay the bills - if you get to do something you love, you're one of the lucky ones...
Still, the work-from-home dress code is looking good, Krista! More fab leggings, the print on that dress is so pretty, and the Vix Trick with the denim waistcoat is working a treat!
Your garden is looking gorgeous, hurray for colour, and I am so happy to hear crazy Ash is all better now. Give her a tickle under the chin from her Auntie Curtise!
Oops, nearly forgot to say, your new art prints are beautiful. xxxx

I give myself that pep talk all the time on this soul-sucking job!
YAY to Ashe feeling better!

LOVE the daisies in the grass leggings!! So summery!!
And the new dress is gorgeous--very you cuz it looks like you're wearing a garden-and the denim vest just adds to it!!

Love the pix of your gardens--i wish my flowers looked as perky!!

And of course--what's a post without Peetee cuteness???

MrBill sends his love and a nice fresh Kitty Crispy to Peetee!

Oh no, it sucks when work is unrewarding beyond the monthly paycheck, trust me, I know. I don't know what advice to offer given I've not exactly bettered my own situation.

Those are such beautiful leggings and I agree, a waistcoat always makes the shape of a frock better. Xx

I was thinking today about how much I needed a denim vest after seeing Vix rocking in hers and now I want it even more! We have twin thoughts and weather, sometimes I'm sure that you live just around the corner! I'd love to come for a tea in your beautiful garden wearing my KMK leggings and a floral dress and planning a future job together! Your hair looks amazing today!
I love you more than naughty girls paintings!

Your garden is coming along with lots of bright colours in the making. But we wouldn't expect anything else from the queen of vivid colour and pattern (in my opinion anyway) and those kmk leggings are lush xx

I definitely don't miss working for someone else but the way things are going it looks like I'm gonna have to go back and get a j o b :( You look super cute tho and having a dress code would be way less fun. I'm glad Ash is feeling better. I love the new art too;) whoever stole our sunshine needs a good kick in the pants!

Must be something in the air today Krista, I felt mightily fed up with the humdrum day ahead of me this morning, though I've done all the hard bits now and am looking forward to a few vodka and cokes tonight, somehow that has cheered me right up! I insanely love those leggings now I see them in close up, and your dress is so pretty too, you do look like a little nymph! And I love your waistcoat too, I have one in black that is great for pulling shapeless things together. Glad to hear Ash is on the mend. And that reminds me, I love your ring too! I've not heard of that website but I'm curious now, and those fabulous prints. So much to love here Krista, your posts always brighten up my day. xx

You look a total vision, love the waistcoat over the awkward dress, the kitty ring and those amazing KMK leggings. You should be a career mentor, you've worked wonders for both me and Cristi, maybe we could share you for 6 months each?
The art is so damned sexy and your garden is looking stunning. Ours is a riot of bluebells, Broom, Forget-Me-Knots and Comfrey - almost respectable at the moment in a wild way.
Have a fantastic weekend and forget the daily grind for two days!
Love ya! xxxx

Your legs are a garden. Those leggings are incredible!! I love that lawn on your legs! The idea is absolutely inspired.
And your real garden is gorgeous, Krista, clearly a labour of love, as opposed to the slavery kind. At least you get to wear what you want to work. We just have to hang on to the dreams.
I'm glad Ash is out and about. Whew!!!

What a great pair of leggings! I can totally feel where you're at with your job...I just recently "let go" of mine. (i.e., I'm retired now!) It's a scary and uncertain time...but that is usually when I grow the most.

Your back yard and garden is lovely! I can sympathize with the thoughts you are having about your work. I fluctuate between "I am lucky to have a decent job with benefits and people who respect me" and the "I want to do something more with the skills I have".

The cat ring is crazy in the best way and I loooove the sexy corset gal.

Your garden looks bloomin' fantastic as do you in your denim vest. I tell you Vix is a trend setter for people who don't do trends. I am eyeing maxi dresses- and there is no one else to blame for that then her. As for the bright pink I've been oogling- good Lord, that would be you. Shame shame on you, pink Princess!

Oh man... can you believe how far behind I am? I am so sorry!!! I've missed all of this amazingness... but it's actually a really nice treat for me to catch up all in one go. So far I've had a chocolate peanut butter brownie, a banana and a coffee while I've been catching up.

The LEGGINGS with the DRESS are AMAZING! Your garden is gorgeous and i love the print with the green background.
