Cha Cha Cha Changes....

I feel so much better today, sometimes I just need a little time to wallow in it and then I'm fine:) All your kind comments were so sweet, thank you.  I did go to the doctor last week because I've had crazy hot flashes recently keeping me from getting a much needed good nights sleep.  I found out yesterday that at 43 I am post menopausal.  I guess that is what happens when you get your uterus removed, it brings on the change faster.  I am trying to adjust to this new normal for me.  Please ladies those of you going through this, help! What do you do to keep it all together?  I'm not even willing to consider HRT I want it to be natural but a lot of the natural remedies have side effects.  Vagina I hate you right now.
Ok enough of that.  I thought I would share with you a sweet recent find perfectly paired with my Kiss Me Kitty leggings:)
It's a 1960's sweater dress and I didn't even have to shorten it!  $6 at the Goodwill.
My only complaint is after sitting in it most of the day it gets creases that make me look like I have fat rolls.  Now that is not a look any gal wants.
I need a hair cut!  Again!  I have been working on two new creations that are close to sharing.  I think being creative helps me to be a happier person.  At least it keeps my mind occupied and when I am done I feel better.
You know what else I can relate to now more than ever?  The moon because she is beat up and still beautiful.  Was I the only kid who thought she followed her everywhere?
I plan on seeing this before too long.
The night sweats might leave me soaked but when I wake up I am still happy to greet the day.
Don't forget to share any secrets you have if you are an old prune like me :)  I'm kinda kidding.

I did go through a few months where I had the occasional night sweats - nothing like waking up cold and clammy :( It passed, but at the time it was gross...

Pink and lime green are one of my favourite colour combinations!

Hi babe...looking gorgeous for an old prune!! I'm a prune who has just gone through it. I started very early at 36 and it's taken all this time to be over and done with. I was refused HRT because I was too young but I wouldn't have taken it anyway.I got through without it. I think lack of sleep was the worse thing. I had a fan and used it all the time. Stay your usual upbeat self, be creative, treat yourself to nice things and have a rant every now and then. I'd love to see the Northern Lights too.
Take care.

O, yeah, I've been going through that for a while! It comes and goes, and it's pretty icky! Such is life.
The Northern Lights! Seeing those would be amazing. We occasionally get a Southern version viewable from NZ, at certain times of the year, i think.
Being creative is likely the best cure for anything! Just keeping the old brain buzzing is a good thing.
Love the new sweater dress, it's damned cute, especially with those divoon leggings!
Loving YOU! XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

"Vagina, I hate you right now" is my new favourite saying! Another old prune here, increasingly struggling with heating/flush issues (changes of temperature from cold outside to warm inside play havoc, and I've done a few throw the covers off nights too...) No advice or great ideas, just ploughing on and hoping I don't go too bonkers when it really sets in.
Love that lime/turquoise checked knit; who cares about a few wrinkles? Fat rolls? YOU? I don't think so, you're as svelte as can be and no dress can make you look otherwise! Another delicious pair of KMKs, and oh yes please to a Blogger Meet Up to see the Northern Lights!
Love you, you old prune! xxxx

The first thing I have to write is from my daughter, she is really excited to see that you are wearing her same pair of Huggs that she 's wearing now and she adds that she loves you very much!
I'm sorry to read you aren't feeling well, I hate hormonal changes and I hope you are feeling better now!
The dress you are wearing is lovely! Especially with the KMK leggings, you have stunning legs!
Have a wonderful weekend darling!
I love more than the moon!!

Ooooooh that frock's making me frisky Krista, I love it, the length is PERFECT and pairing it with the leggings is fabulous!!! My GP smiled knowingly at me this week, when I told her my periods seem to be very light these past four months. I'll be 46 next week, so I guess it's time right? It's something that none of my four older sisters or mother have ever discussed with me (typical!) and I'm completely in the dark. I think a dose of the Northern Lights could only help things along though ;). Hugs my dear friend. xoxoxo

I'm scared to death of menopause. My mom had a horrid time and I guess we are typically like our moms in length, duration and so on. I don't know if that applies if you lose your girl bits though since thats a game changer.

Just from living in the heat for so dang long. A fan. You'd be surprised how much it helps. That really should be fans. A ceiling one and one by you. Its the two together that make a winning combination! Wear breathable night clothes. No silks, polyesters. There is nothing worse than waking up sweaty in silky (it kind of makes me gag thinking about it). A tank top and very light boy shorts.....something like that. They dry off faster.
If you think it might be for awhile what about one of those beds that you can actually set to a cool temp? I think I'm going to invest in one of those!
If it wakes you up or starts to happen during the day. Those silly neck hankies you can freeze. Seriously help! They cool down your core post haste.

As for the old prune, my husband was doing the side surf with me last night. You know where your to lazy to do you own internet stuff so you kinda glom onto the person you are by. So I brought him over here and was like. "Isn't she just the coolest??!!" He of course agreed.:) Your kicking ass in your forties!! Especially in this freakin awesome sweater dress!

as a really old prune, I can tell you that the whole process is different for all of us. With me, not so bad. I didn't use any sort of replacement stuff and the hot flashes where few and far between. And not that bad. I was kind of surprised that I had it so short and sweet after some of the horror stories I'd heard. So, hang in there and it will pass.

Oh sweet.........I too 'hate the whole stupid girl department' not that I have anything much left........in saying that it still is causing me problems everyday. I have been on HRT for about 8 years....I hate it, but have no choice.
I not sure I have any advice.........just keep being wonderful you.
Sending a very cool and loving hug.
Thinking of you....from a another vagina hater.
Love v

I'd hug you but the combined flashes might make us explode.
LOVE the new dress with the KMK leggings--super cute!!

I'm going through the hot flashing/sweat like a pig stuff now, too. I'm just going to tough it out without HRT.

Sometimes an icepack to the back of the neck helps.

all I can say is dress in layer--because one minute you can be freezing and the next like a furnace.

We run a ceiling fan at night to help me. Lauren is under orders of DEATH to turn it off. He can put on more clothes if he gets cold.

You look so gorgeous in that teeny mini dress, it's a perfect find.
God, yes, women's stuff. 34 years of torment so far. My body hates me. I keep saying I can't wait for the menopause, but maybe that's just another version of the torture. I have the most enormous booboids at the moment, just waiting to pop. I've heard thyme is supposed to help with the night sweats? A little fan sounds a good idea.
I didn't think the moon followed me but I did believe I could fly. Xxxx

I love love love the idea of the moon being beat up and beautiful. Thank you for that. Also, those floral leggings are too cute. I got a pair of lovely gold and rust hued ones from dear Cristi as a Christmas present and they are addictively wonderful. Want to put them under everything. I am 47 and just beginning to get hot flashes at night, nothing really works except shedding at night. Waking up freezing and nude. Much like the moon.

You're as cute as a bug's ear in that outfit and as for the menopause stuff? Sorry I can't help you there, I'm only 28 but perhaps you could try some experimental surgery to grow a penis? No one will have to know about it. Just tuck it away... we'll, I mean, I'll know about it. And I'll probably tell...

Bach Flower Remedies! Another resource to investigate at your local herbal health store is the tea section: it's trial and error time! Drink them and/or soak in them, whatever works, works... Me, I still have a lovely section of bergamot growing in the front border -- pretty blue flowers taste great in iced black tea.

Not bergamot! Borage. (I was drinking Earl Grey tea whilst commenting...)

You are not an old prune, you crack me up! you are radiant, full of colors and fun!
Menopause, i had my share of hot flashes, slowly, slowly going away - I drank sage, it helped -
Exercise, eat well- avoid wine coffee, sweets, chocolate as much as possible - Brace yourself, it could last a while...

Hugs
