Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud

I first heard of Maya Angelou in college and I quickly became a fan of her beautiful way of expression.  There was just something about the way she wrote that touched me deeply and to hear her read her own words aloud was a mesmerizing experience.  I will miss her presence on this earth.

Well the weekend is almost here and I actually got up early and made time for a quick outfit post after I worked out.  It feels good to take care of me again. Its finally warm enough to wear a dress I received so long ago for my birthday from Vix.
Its pretty fabulous because its covered in skeletons that are dancing and drinking up a storm!
I thought leopard went nicely with it.
My hair is growing so fast time for another cut.

Red bracelet in the center from the lovely Em!

 Man I'm white!
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

I am your butterfly, be my protection, be my samurai

I feel like a new girl this morning!  I spent the entire holiday weekend home taking care of my Peetee BUT on Sunday I snuck off to go see Die Antwoord with Cristi.  It was an incredible performance!  They put on a killer show and I danced my ass off and a tiny part of me was reborn! Nothing and I mean nothing beats the way being on the floor of a show like this makes you feel.  You are part of a pulse that is bigger than your own and for me it's truly healing.
Doors opened at 8:30 and it was an all age venue but the upstairs was 21 and up so that is where we planned on going.  We arrived at about 9:45 and to our surprise they were just about to go on.
The show was sold out and there was a line to get up stairs so I said screw it and we headed into the crowd. We hadn't even hit the bar up yet.  Quickly we bought two bottles of water and headed into the sea of people.  Yo-landi was beautiful in person and Ninja was ripped both are in phenomenal shape.  Their energy was incredible and they even had dancers.  I was so impressed with their performance, they really are amazing to see live and if any of you ever get a chance they should not be missed.
At the end of show my hair was sopping wet, my make-up had all sweat off and I was a little hoarse, PERFECT NIGHT!  Here is what we looked like before the madness.
A little pre funk with some X rated mixed with lime soda:)
Our outfits, both rocking our Kiss Me Kitty leggings.

I also want to throw a shout out to WILLOW who reads my blog and came up to me after the show, it was so nice to meet you and your beautiful daughter!  Kari I missed you!

Now for some random pictures from last week.  I haven't had time to take proper outfit photos so these will have to do :)  This dress was free to me!
Love the colors on this dress.

I also went to Farmers Market on Saturday and bought a half flat of Hood strawberries, they are the most delicious thing I have ever put in my mouth and you can only get them here because they are so fragile they do not ship well.
 I made a tart too.

and Peetee continues to get better.
This Friday Cristi and I head back over to my Dad's to clear out his house.  I haven't been back since he died, it will be strange and thinking about it makes me a bit uneasy but it must be done.

I hope you all had a wonderful few days to yourself.  I feel refreshed, FINALLY!

Aloha baby

Another week has flown by and I'm thankful for that.  I think I might even be getting back some of my inspiration to create, I guess you could say the haze is lifting.  I am wearing a new to me dress today, that is 100% cotton made in Hawaii and best part I don't have to wear a bra!
Since you all loved this bag so much I figured it deserved it's first outing.

I don't need any magazine to give me permission to wear sneakers with my dresses, it's just what I like.
Peetee and I were delighted to receive this adorable handmade sock kitty from Gisela.  The eyes are green buttons and the best part about her.
I'd like to replace both my cats with these:)
I also had a stone pathway added in the backyard.
 Zoe likes it.
This weekend we get an extra day off so I am looking forward to 3 days of whatever I want!  What sort of trouble will you get into the weekend?

I Fink U Freeky

After a few weekends of being housebound I was so happy when Chris said he would watch Peetee for a few hours so I could go have brunch with Cristi and shop a little.  Simple pleasures people, simple pleasures:)
Like finding this 1940's Hungarian embroidered bag.  I saw one like it on etsy a few months back that sold for $90, mine was $10.  It's always worth waiting if you really want something at a good price.

Cristi even found a dress too.
Ain't she hot in this photo?!?!?!
For breakfast it was fried chicken and waffles, no pictures because we were HUNGRY!
I also found this sweater for $6, made of a blended wool, warm and comfy.
Rocking our Kiss Me Kitty leggings.
I also found this great needlepoint.  Peetee is still recovering and melting my heart daily.
May 25th Cristi and I will be seeing Die Antwoord, to say that I am excited would be a GROSS understatement.  I plan on dancing my ass off.
Hurry up and get here!!!!!

Beauty has a lot to do with character

I finally did it and started Friday off like I used too by taking pictures of me!  I know it doesn't sound so exciting but since my life has been upside down lately I welcome getting back into a bit of a routine.  Know what I mean?  I spent a good hour in the garden last night planting tons of new flowers, my back is a bit sore but my spirit sure needed that.
I finally get to wear this dress that I found last year at vintage by the pound.  It's a handmade dress that cost me all of $4.
I'm quite smitten with it.  I was also happy to get some flowers back on my head.
Headband made by me but totally inspired by Desiree!
This dress however reminds me of Vix, who if you haven't voted for already is up for Vintage Personality of 2014.  Vote for her here!
I adore my pink wicker purse.
 Bracelets made by me.
Today I take Peetee back to the vet for his first follow up appointment.  I think he's getting better, it's a slow road to recovery after spinal surgery.  He really doesn't leave my side at all these days.

I bought this sling so I could carry him around more easily since he is still not allowed to walk around.
 Peetee loves it
and I look like the freaky dog lady I am.
Have a wonderful weekend my pretties!
