Speak up for those that can't!

I was pretty happy to find this waiting for me at the Goodwill this weekend.
 It was my reward
for having to leave behind this too small mermaid dress by Betsey Johnson.
and having this occur  *WARNING MINI ANGRY RANT*

Summer is in full swing here in Oregon with temperatures nearing 90 most days.  I love the heat and the sun but I do not like seeing people leave their animals in their cars. This weekend shopping at the Goodwill I noticed a woman park her car with her dog in it and head inside.  It was already very warm outside.  After a bit I approached her and politely asked if she was planning on leaving her dog out in that heat for much longer.  This really set her off and she started yelling at me and getting in my face and telling me to mind my own fucking business.  I was shocked and told her that animal abuse is everyones business and that I hope any bargain she finds is worth the misery she is causing her dog.

I thought she was going to hit me and I wish she had because I would have enjoyed nothing more than giving a beat down to someone as selfish as her.  I will always speak up for those who can't ALWAYS!  I encourage everyone to do the same.  Too many times people turn a blind eye, don't do that, say something.

The weekend was pretty wonderful besides that.  Filled with fireworks, BBQ's, lot's of crafty projects and birthday celebrations, Cristi's that is!  First up some crafty stuff.  I transformed this doll.
 into me!
I made this funky ass headband out of an old necklace
 and some crafty bits
 I rather like it!

I also made Cristi a BIRTHDAY present.
I gave her blue and purple ends of course:)
and stuck this old postcard from 1913 on the back.
We both dressed up to go out for dessert.  I wore this lil number that was another thrifting score at $5!
I also found this crazy cat bag for her.

 I mean its perfect right?

so is she.  Happy Birthday Cristi!
 We ate.
 Window shopped at Xtabay.

 and played dress up.
Monday I think I can handle you today.

Wait is that vintage store right by Dots? If so, I'm about a half or maybe a mile away. We go to Dots all the time! That cat bag? Might be the coolest thing I've seen in quite awhile! You really are the coolest friend evah.

Good for you for saying something to that woman about her dog, and shame on her for being so awful! You're little, but you're feisty, Krista - I like that!
Happy birthday to darling Cristi, I bet you had a great time together playing with the lovely vintage and going out for lunch. You both look fabulous in your gorgeous frocks, and the crazy cat bag and the birthday gift you made for her are perfect.
You found a Dollyrockers, you are so lucky; one of these days, I'll stumble across one which I can afford and which fits me! And it's in such Kristalicious colours and print too.
Cute little dolly, fab headband, you are on FIRE!
Love ya! xxxx

Happy Birthday to Cristi! The cat bag is insane and I totally love what you made for her and that gorgeous antique card.
That vintage shop looks amazing! Is that hot pants underneath the dress? I die!!!
I knew a Dollyrockers would turn up in the end and that's a beauty, it was waiting for you!!!
How vile of that woman, behaviour like that just proves she felt guilty about neglecting her poor dog, evil biatch!
Love you! xxxxxxxxxx

Happy Birthday to Cristi! Such great gifts given with love are the best ever.

Re. Evil Woman with Dog, well, you took the abuse but it was ABSOLUTELY worth it. You may have saved that dog's life next time Evil goes out. So you rock!!! Well done. You could have taken her down.

So many awesome clothes in this post too. Nothing better than playing dress-up with a friend. Great karmic thrifting scores too.

Yes, the cat bag is purrrfect, but what is PERFECT here is you two. I want to squeeze both of you. What a lovely way to celebrate Cristi's birthday (Happy Birthday Sweetie!). The gift you made for her is brilliant; your crafty works of art always make me smile.

I get extremely upset when I see (or hear of) someone abusing an animal. I haven't found myself in a situation like the one your were in, but good for you for speaking up and I hope she didn't stay in the store very long. I did speak up when some slimey guy was bothering a young woman at a bus stop, and got the full "mind your own business, bitch" treatment, so I know what it feels like. I know you have to pick your battles, but at the same time, I can't stand seeing anyone being bullied or suffering at the hands of another, animal, or people.

I have called the police on someone doing that before and didn't feel one bit bad about it. People should be ashamed and quite honestly made to sit in a hot car for hours on end themselves if that is how they choose to treat their pets. I have a zero tolerance for this.

Happy Birthday to Christi!

I would have been so very, very angry with that stupid woman! Good for you Krista for confronting her like that - she does not deserve to own a pet :-(
A very happy birthday to the beautiful Cristi! Looks like you had a fun day out together- how cool to go out for dessert :-)
Love your Dolly Rockers find and the makeover you gave the doll

Wow, very good vintage scores!! You two look amazing! Good for you for sticking up for the little dog. I don't understand why it's so hard for people to get how deadly hot it can get inside a vehicle.

That woman should not have a pet. Stupid thing. Let's hope she never had children.

Ah, you foxy minx. Good going, telling that sow what's what. That poor dog. People (questionable) like her do not DESERVE to have a dog in their "care". Just rips me to bits.
You are looking so FINE, my lovely! Great score on the Dollyrockers frock, and the cat bag you gave Cristi is BRILLIANT!

The fact that she was so angry just proves you hit a nerve and were right, though being right isn't the point. I'm glad you said something. In Toronto where I used to live, people smash windows or call the authorities when this kind of thing happens. It's not tolerated, though I'm sure it still happens. The kitty bag is too cute. Xo

The Quakers call it, "Speaking truth to power." My Jewish friends call it a "mitzvah" to be given an opportunity to act as an angel. An old Italian bookie I knew called this "da sort of ting, makes da angels smile...!"
Blessings on you, dear brave, good, kind Kristi, for confronting an act of evil!

So glad the rest of the day kept you in the light of love. What a wonderful "ethnic" headband you've created! And that charming tableau for the birthday girl!

Firstly - good on yer! what a wicked woman, yes wicked, that is just awful, I absolutely loathe any form of cruelty, loathe it to my bones - acts of kindness and bravery always make my day, so bravo to you - Happy Birthday Cristi! you two fabulous women and the best cakes ever! *nods head happily* x x x

love that you've been brave and take care of that poor dog in the car, because we can't just ignore abuses and believe it's not our business!

And yay to a weekend that makes a Monday bearable!

Good for you Krista!!! You are making the world kinder more colorful place. I speak up all the time about injustice and cruelty and stupidity. Sometimes it IS scary. Sometimes I worry that I may get shot. ~ That cat bag. THAT CAT BAG. Extra fabulous! You remind me of one of those little Russian nesting Dolls. :-)

If this comment doesn't stick...I'm going to go mad! I keep getting ejected every time I try. Grrrr.
Here, here, love with you all the way. It makes me boil to see dogs left overheating in cars...I can never keep my mouth shut when it comes to injustice. I can't be having with cruelty or bullying and I'm such a gobshite, I have to speak up. The Welsh h are generally not ones for turning a blind eye. Good for you...sort 'em out.
You both look gorgeous and wonderful. Love the mad cat bag and your headband. Hope Cristi had a fab birthday.
Loads of love.

I'm still baffled about this sudden rise in people "accidently" leaving their BABIES in the vehicles. WTF??? You look too cute in your pink lace top dress - I mean like so cute it hurts!

Dreadful woman, firstly for abusing her poor little pooch and secondly for abusing you. I have a fantasy about having a huge eraser which I can use to rub out horrible people, so they are just gone. I'd use it on her, no trouble at all. Good for you for doing the right thing. Happy Birthday to lovely Christi - what a fab bunch of presents you gave her. Did she get that dress in the last photo? She should have. Dollyrockers, yeah! Krista doll, hee hee! xxxxxx

What a terrible woman, we have put off having a pet for years as we feel like we can't give enough time to a pet and don't have enough space - so when I hear things like that it makes me so ANGRY!! People like that shouldn't be allowed to have pets. I'm glad you had a wonderful birthday otherwise - It always looks like you and Cristi have the most fun!
